Organization

Organization Description:

Located in Basset Forks, Virginia (just outside Martinsville), Red Birch Energy, Inc. (RBE) is a biodiesel manufacturer creating the first 'Closed Loop' Delivery System of biofuels in the United States. Very simply, we Grow it, we Make it and we Sell it all in one location. We are advocates of small-scale locally owned biorefineries. RBE's ultimate goal is to franchise the model and build Red Birch Biorefineries at strategic locations across the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.

RBE would partner with leaders in State and local government to expedite the development of these facilities, ensure sufficient acreage is being planted, and to work with local farmers and municipalities to develop an appropriate ownership structure.

Description of Renewable Energy Finance Business:

RBE believes their vertically integrated business model will be the most effective and profitable way of bringing renewable fuels to the marketplace. We are contracting for local production of canola and soybean feedstock, crushing the seed on site, producing the product immediately beside the retail outlet (no transportation involved), and selling the product to the retail market, all under one ownership structure. In addition, RBE biorefineriers have the ability to take multiple feedstocks, ie..yellow grease, brown grease and WVO. Providing a tremendous service to counties and municipalities. In essence, making the biorefineriers recycling centers.

RBE participates at each business level, reducing market risk, ensuring profits and bringing benefit to rural economies in a number of ways.

From sample grower-contracts to detailed plant diagrams and operations manuals to recommendations for marketing, the Red Birch Energy model will provide a clear pathway to local energy independence. Cooperative ownership of the facility by producing farmers would be pursued whenever possible, as that's the best way to ensure true rural prosperity.

Because we are smaller in scale than conventional biofuel plants, requiring as little as 5,000 acres of canola production to operate year round, the model can be replicated dozens of times across each state. Thereby lowering transportation costs and spreading the positive economic impact throughout rural communities.

Red Birch would partner with leaders in State and local government to expedite the development of these facilities, ensure sufficient acreage is being planted, and to work with local farmers and municipalities to develop an appropriate ownership structure.
